How to Dance Reggaeton

Aug 4, 2009 08:47 PM
Two women dancing joyfully in a studio setting.

You just gotta move to the beat. Listen to it and wind (like a clock) the way the beat goes.

Stretch daily. You need to be flexible in order to dance reggaeton.

Stand up and have your feet together or apart...your decision.

Move your hips side-to-side and in a circular motion. Try not to move the top half of your body.

(Optional) you can move your arms around like your hair. Don't go to crazy with your arms.

Bend your knees just a little.

Do small steps while you dance, but don't over do it.

Change your positions! Don't stand always facing the same direction, move to the side, etc..

Don't repeat every move too much! Vary the speed, hip and hand moves so your mate won't be bored.

Be confident, express yourself with every move you do.

For girls, there has to be a lot of hips movement, but not too much.

You have to go at the rythm of the music.

always move to the beat and go along with your partner.

Tips

  • Practice at home in front of a mirror or a friend...(just to have some fun and to see how it feels like dancing reggaeton so you wont be scared next time)
  • For Step 3 don't move the top part of your body
  • Listen to your iPod/Mp3 or radio to songs like Gasolina by Daddy Yankee, and dance to them

Warnings

  • Don't embarrass yourself and shake it too much.
  • Try not to show that you are nervous.

Things You'll Need

  • Good reggaeton music (Try R.K.M. y Ken-y, Daddy Yankee, Wisin and Yandel, Don Omar, Alexis y Fido or Arcangel)
